Our small, but mighty team of musicians and music lovers strives to carry on SPF's mission, offering classical piano music to an expanding audience, especially the younger generation.
SPF began with one concert in 2015, featuring composer-pianist Colin Martin and SPF founder, pianist Elias-Axel Pettersson. Since then, the annual summer festival has expanded to presenting three concerts in August and has featured ten pianists (and counting!), including recent winners of the Jackie McGehee Young Artist Competition. In promoting contemporary music, SPF has showcased many world premieres. As per our mission, we continue to look towards the future and past to create a new history that promotes equality and positivity in a rapidly changing world.
SPF is a performance platform that promotes pianists with ties to New Mexico and the Southwest. Concert veterans perform alongside up-and-coming pianists who are beginning to develop their careers. All concerts are free, bringing the tradition of classical piano music to all who wish to listen.
